The promis•e Standard Edition includes all the capabilities of promis•e LT along with the following additional features:
|
|
Automatic Wire Numbering (Page/Project Based)
The software provides automatic wiring numbering with duplicate error checking. The numbering can extend across a selected group of wires, across selected pages, or across an entire project.
Page Copy, Rename, Move
Use the Project Manager to manage drawing pages with Copy, Rename and Move functions.
Installation and Location Descriptions
Tabs are available in the Project Manager that allow you to enter descriptions of installations and locations. (Installations and locations are subsections of a project.)
Symbol Text on the Fly
You can quickly add new symbol text attributes to an existing symbol as you are creating the drawing (without having to use the symbol creation wizard).
Dynamic Symbol Text
This feature reduces redundant data entry. All symbol text attributes can be configured to share their values with child symbols or any other symbol that shares the same ID. This feature allows for automatic synchronization of symbol text attribute values between different document types or within the same document.

BOM Explorer
The BOM Explorer allows you to view, modify and add to the part numbers assigned in the project. It offers total control and flexibility when assigning part numbers to drawing objects. You can also use it to generate a BOM before the drawings are created, allowing you to get your
long lead-time parts on order or start your design.
Sorting from the database is made easy by dragging the column headers in the space provided to generate a tree in the order that you want to search for parts. In the following example the search tree would be by Manufacturer / Schematic Symbol. From there you can select and drag new part numbers or replace
old ones from the BOM Tree.
User Definable Device and Wire Tag Formats
You can define your own device and wiring tag formats rather than being limited to predefined selections. Often, you may have to deal with very specific customer requirements specifying a particular wire tag or a device tag format. With promis•e you have total flexibility in defining custom format configurations. Multiple numbering formats can be defined for specific document types, such as PLC wiring. This makes it possible to have multiple automatic tagging formats within the same project.

 |
Automatic Component Align
A very easy to use tool for automatically aligning components in a drawing. Simply select the components that you wish to align, select the first point where you want the first component to align and then a second point where the last component is to be aligned and the software does the rest.
Family on the Fly
If you find that you don’t have a family definition with the right combination of symbols, you can create one as you work on a drawing. (A “Device Family” is a definition that establishes the type and number of child symbols that are associated with a parent symbol, such as contacts for a relay coil.)
Global Symbol Find/Replace
Find and replace symbols on selected pages or throughout the entire project. You can also replace symbol settings.
|
 |
Panel Layout Mode
When the panel layout mode is activated, promis•e displays the devices, which can be placed on the layout diagram. If a layout symbol has been specified for the part, it appears on the drawing screen and you can select a position for it. If no layout symbol has been specified, the software draws a box based on the dimensions in the database. If dimensions for the part have not been entered in the database, you can draw a box of the appropriate size. The device tag is automatically placed on the symbol or box.
Ladder Builder
The Draw Ladder function allows you to create ladder wires quickly. For ANSI-IEEE (JIC) drawings the "rung" wires will be drawn horizontally. For IEC format drawings the wires will be drawn vertically.
You select the top left and bottom right point of the ladder area and enter a value for space between rungs. The software will then draw all the wires automatically.
Global Find/Replace Wire Property
The Find and Replace Wire Property function allows you to change wire properties such as color, gauge and type. The replacement can affect the entire project or it can be restricted to a single drawing set, installation, location, page, or even individually selected wires.
User Definable Wire Layers
Users have the option to create custom wire layers. Each layer can have default wire properties so that when a wire is drawn on that layer, it will take on those properties automatically.
If you try to connect wires that are on different wire layers, you will be alerted with an Engineering Design Consideration dialog box.

 |
Cable Termination Diagrams
The cable termination diagram provides much added value for field service electricians by allowing them to quickly
terminate cable connections.
Automated Balloon Callout Utility
This function allows you to make settings that determine how balloons appear in various drawing types. A balloon is a numbered circle that marks an item in a panel layout or other type of drawing. The number corresponds to that item's position in the bill of materials list.
When selecting a component, you have the option to automatically or manually assign an item/balloon number. When modifying an existing item/balloon number, "like" components and the Bill of Materials are updated automatically.

Automated Layout Utilities
The Panel Layout Accessories menu contains a number of special drawing functions that are useful for panel layout and raceway drawings. These include functions for placing conduits, wireways, DIN rails and virtual wire pathways in your diagrams.
Hoffman Panel Builder
The Hoffman Panel Builder program is a promis•e utility that allows you to quickly size and select Hoffman enclosures, panels and other accessories. It works in conjunction with the other promis•e functions to quickly layout the enclosures and produce purchase orders for ordering the selected parts.
Panduit Configuration Tool
Panduit Wire Duct and Cable Ties: To implement this function you start by drawing a "wire path" on the panel layout drawing. You can then choose a selection tool where you enter the type of component to use and parameters like material or "style." As you select parameters, a window showing the Panduit parts meeting your requirements is filtered. At any point you can select the appropriate part, and it is assigned to the project for inclusion in the BOM.
Panduit Terminations: Easily select and assign Panduit terminals, ferrules, disconnects, lugs, and all components that do not appear on the schematic but are fixed to the end of a wire. The wire wizard tool reads the schematics and automatically assigns termination part numbers to the ends of the wires. The assignment is based on the types of terminators that you have defined as "allowed" for each device, the types of terminators that you prefer to use in the project, and the screw size for the connected device.
Navigator Function
The Navigator is a simple yet incredibly powerful tool for rapid movement through a project. It allows you to go from one place where a particular ID is used to another place in the project where the same ID occurs simply by clicking on the ID. You also can move quickly from one drawing page to another by clicking on a cross-reference or a wire link. You can also jump from a part number displayed in the schematic to the database record for that part.

Engineering Design Considerations
The software features intelligent user-definable error checking to eliminate design errors before they reach manufacturing. Save countless hours by using this feature to automatically check your designs documentation for errors.
The Design Consideration Report logs all selected errors, allowing you to quickly navigate from the report directly to the error on the drawing. Once the error is resolved, you can check it off the list.
Search Tool
The Search Tool allows you to quickly locate various symbols and attributes within a project. A list is generated from your search criteria. When a record is selected from the list, the software will automatically navigate to the item in the drawing.
PLC I/O Import
The PLC Import function allows you to import a text or spreadsheet file containing programmable controller addresses and descriptive text. The relevant text is automatically taken from the file and placed in the drawing with the appropriate PLC address.
PLC Schematic Generator
This function automatically generates drawings of programmable logic controller I/O connections based on information imported from PLC program files, spreadsheets, etc. Information can also be imported from many popular PLC programming packages.
For each module, you select the parameters for the input or output device connected to each I/O point. This includes symbol, part number, the terminal that come before and after the I/O device and descriptive text. Once completed, activate the Create Drawing function and the software automatically creates the PLC module drawing pages in the specified project.
|
 |
Automatic Report Generation
From the Generate Report dialog box, you can select multiple reports and print them all at the same time. You have the option to view reports on the screen, output to a printer, place the report on a drawing or output to a file. The enhanced report output options include PDF capabilities.
Reports include Bill of Material, Wire List, Parts Database, Job Costing, PLC List, Terminal Lists, Symbol List, and more as well as custom reports.
Floating License Manager
Users have the option of operating the software with a floating license which means that the license is installed on a network and is available to other users on the network. You can also check out a license for working remotely. The designated license server manages and tracks the usage of each purchased license.
Fully Open API
The software has a fully open API (Application Programming Interface) that allows users to write custom programs to automate the operation of the software.
